Local Area

The Anglers Arms is close to the banks of River Wansbeck in the picturesque Sheepwash Bank area of Choppington, Northumberland. Situated on the A1068, The Anglers Arms has excellent links to the historic market town of Morpeth and is only a fifteen minute drive from Newcastle Upon Tyne. With rail transport links close by and with Newcastle International Airport a short distance away, The Anglers Arms is able to provide an excellent base for both a holiday and a business commuter.

Northumberland has a magical coastline and some of the most remarkable views and walks that the UK has to offer. Local attractions include the World Heritage site of Hadrians Wall, the gardens at Alnwick, the castles of Bamburgh, Warkworth and Dunstanburgh, the Woodhorn mining museum and Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

The immediate local area includes some great river fishing (It’s the Anglers Arms after all!) and some of the best cycle routes in Northumberland. There is a great local park for the children adjacent to us and a popular riverside towpath just metres from the front door leading through Wansbeck Riverside Park. Northumberland is also host to some fantastic golf courses all within close proximity to The Anglers Arms.
